We can mix this up by using notifications to encourage action to be taken.
This notification example is from LinkedIn.
Of course, this is easier said than done as community platforms don’t offer this as a feature.
I share this for two reasons.
One is as a thought exercise to improve the community products that we are building. How can we look at what other products are doing and be inspired by the experience they offer? If we don’t look, we won’t find. Start looking to see what you can find.
Secondly, as an interim solution for community teams. How can we hack something together in an MVP way that does something similar to this?
For example, with a focus on simplicity, we could create a form and DM people asking for contributions to an article.
Along the way and as we experiment we learn whilst also building up evidence of what people actually do. This may make building features further down the line more of a possibility.

I thought I was the only one who paid attention to notifications. So many people turn them all off. I find them particularly helpful on LinkedIn though I’m not a fan of the collaborative articles lol. I got 2 badges after 13 contributions. Should that really mean I’m a community top voice?
