When I’ve had to make decisions when building businesses, I often end up asking myself: is this community compatible?
What does Community Compatible mean?
To service and do community work that aligns and respects the community’s needs (as much as it does with the needs of the business and their customers).
Why is this important?
Language is important to help us think, talk and action our community work.
Understanding the need to ask and talk about whether the work we are doing is community compatible will help us think clearly about how to serve our communities, businesses and ecosystem.
It is a risk if business decisions aren’t compatible with the community. It is also a risk if community decisions are not compatible with the business. It goes both ways.
Asking the question up front will help us identify the risks earlier and hopefully avoid any mistakes.
