It’s easy to talk about community.
To debate what it is or isn’t.
To discover ideas that seem to have worked for someone else.
To apply experiences from hindsight.
To develop the perfect strategy.
To make your budgets look feasible and perfect.
To justify using models and principles that seem to make sense.
“Doing Community” is a different ball game
It’s different when it comes to “Doing Community”.
All those ideas, theories and tools are not necessarily wrong, but finding ways to use and apply them into your community is a completely different experience.
Everything gets messy. Things don’t go according to plan.
You fail where you think you will succeed. You succeed where you think you will fail.
What people actually value is hard to discover.
Strategies don’t go according to plan.
And so much is outside of your control.
❤️ Use Community Thinking to inspire you, but don’t forget that communities come together through doing.
