You can ask questions anywhere. It’s kind of like doing a survey that people actually respond to. 🙃
Within private communities. In open communities. In conversations or DMs. Even in your own community!
Nothing should stop you from asking the same questions in different locations.
Here is an example of one I did recently.
Same question, different Slack’s.
This one is on LinkedIn.
And this one is on Twitter.
Why do this?
content re-use: be smart with your time and re-use your ideas and content
showing up: to stay in people's minds and as a marketing tactic, often we have to show up where your (potential) people are
diversified responses: get out of your bubble and comfort zone and learn from the variety of responses
active research: surveys don't work, well that's not strictly true, but they are so hard to get any decent responses. Bite size questions is a great way to do active research and make progress now.
dive deeper: it can be great for diving in deeper to conversations, often people will speak up on a variety of issues and ideas based around the question
experiment with words: when questions are small scale it can be easier to get away with experimenting. Try changing the words up depending where you post.
look for opportunities: it could be ideas people share, a different perspectives and opportunity to dive deeper, a person to invite to a community activity
Every question is a building block. They can get better in time and each one can also help you build relationships with people.
